Eradicating Poverty in Africa

One Dignified Job at a Time

In Korn Ferry’s “Future of Work Findings,” we are expected to see an estimated total talent deficit of 85 million workers in 2030 and this is driven by a shortage of technology skills and not people. The World Bank also estimates that people in the world's poorest regions still live on less than USD 1.90 a day. At The Lotus Foundation, we believe that equipping people with tech and livelihood skills that give them decent work or empowers them to start their own ventures is the way to go. Our Smart Solutions Project under the BeChange Makers Fellowship seeks to teach the youth technology skills needed to make them employable and our Give Work Initiative is targeted at empowering women in underprivileged through livelihood skills, technology transfer, and access to financial resources. When we give work instead of handouts, we are essentially tackling poverty at its root.
